Helping An Employee Prepare For Maternity Leave

Email to the employee - To help you prepare for your maternity leave you'll find a maternity leave policy in SafeHR. The leave policy is under the Family Friendly section. From there you'll also see a Maternity Leave Request Form. To qualify for Statutory Maternity Leave you need to notify us no later than the end of the 15th week before the expected week of childbirth.  You must provide a certificate from a doctor or midwife usually available from 20-25 weeks (usually on a MAT B1 form) confirming your Expected Week of Childbirth.

How to Set Up an Employee on Family Leave

When a maternity leave request form is received file it in Safe and set the employee up on payroll on family leave.

Go to Help > Payroll > Family leave

We don't have a family leave scheme. Go straight to 'set up an employee on family leave'.

You will need average weekly earnings. For an auto calculation in SafeHR go to Payroll > Actions >Family leave pay forecast

Write to the employee within 28 days of receiving notification to inform them of the date we will expect them to return to work if they take full entitlement to Maternity Leave.

From mat policya handbook dated 7/24
